Friend for an Immigrant Mom

Would You Like a New Friend? 

Through the Friend for an Immigrant Mom programme, you can be matched with a volunteer friend. Volunteer friends are local women trained by the Häme District of the Mannerheim Child Protection League. 

You and your volunteer friend can meet to do everyday things together. For example, you might have coffee at each other’s homes, visit the city, go to the library, or take a walk. Your children are welcome to join too! 

You can also practice speaking Finnish with your friend, and she can help you learn more about your new hometown and surroundings. 

Volunteer friends are friendly and reliable women who want to get to know someone new and spend time with a woman who has moved here. 

The programme is available currently in Heinola, Hollola, Hämeenlinna and Riihimäki.
